We are happier than Aunt Deb at the Longaberger Basket™ store to announce the official Misra SXSW 2012 Showcase. The event takes place Thursday, March 15 at the widely-loved Frank venue on 4th & Colorado in Austin.

We’re super excited about the Thursday sweet spot and, from what we hear, Frank is a wonderful club — an actual music venue (as opposed to the harrowed frat-bar-turned-music-venue situation you often see at SXSW). Our friends at Merge Records are hosting at Frank the very next night, which is always a good sign.

If you’re down there, make sure to come see us. It’s sure to be a doozy!

Water Liars’ Phantom Limb has been received with great excitement from many writers, fans, record stores, etc. across the country. There is an ineffable magic to the album and we’re elated it’s being felt.

Southeast Engine recently played a show at the legendary Canal St. Tavern, in Dayton, OH. The Dayton Informer filmed a video of a very old song — “Where Are You Now?” — and sent it along to us. We hope you enjoy it. See Southeast Engine (SEE) at South By Southwest. The will be playing the Misra Showcase. More details on that very soon.

Misra has some exciting news regarding R. Ring soon as well. Both bands will appear at the Misra SXSW Showcase in Austin, TX this year.

Southern Dreams Tour:

Anyone at a Black Swans show in recent months has been graced with the presence of Eve Searles. While a Swan as of late, Searles’ main, equally-avian-friendly project is entitled Bird & Flower. The Lantern in Columbus, OH recently featured an article on Eve with quotes from Black Swans members Jerry DeCicca and Canaan Faulkner. Check out Bird & Flower here.

Shearwater’s Winged Life and Bears’ Greater Lakes both come your way today via Misra Records.

The former is a vinyl reissue, featuring seven songs by SW mainstay Jonathan Meiburg and five songs by Okkervil River’s Will Sheff.

The latter is Bears’ brand new effort — distributed via Misra and our sister label Bloodshot Records.

Captain’s Dead has given Water Liars some serious love. The popular music blog has already named Phantom Limb as one of their favorites of the year thus far and the album’s not even out until 2/28. Captain’s Dead call the album “great and so highly recommended.” We couldn’t agree more.

Lots of Misra shows are happening this weekend. Of highest note, Bears play an extremely rare show and release their new LP Greater Lakes this Saturday, February 11 at Grog Shop in Cleveland, OH with Afternoon Naps + The Lighthouse & The Wailer (buy tickets). Misra and our sister label, Bloodshot Records, will distribute Greater Lakes (out Valentine’s Day). 

Misra favorites Palomar are also playing a rare show this Friday, February 10 at Cake Shop in Brooklyn with Dragon Kings & Springs. These three girls and one fellow will appear at Misra’s SXSW Showcase this year. More on that soon.

Southeast Engine plays Dayton, OH’s legendary Canal St. Tavern this Friday, February 10 with Motel Beds and New Vega. The boys have a new EP in the works. More on that soon as well.

Shearwater kicks off their tour with Sharon Van Etten in Philly this Friday, February 10. Misra is reissuing SW’s Winged Life on Valentine’s Day.
