Daytrotter posted 970 sessions and nearly 4,000 songs this year. They made a list of the Top 70 sessions and the Top 200 songs of the year. Both Water Liars’ fantastic song “Dog Eaten” and their early 2012 session made Daytrotter’s cut.
Misra took on Water Liars from the ground floor – with 0 sales and 0 name recognition – and released their debut record Phantom Limb. As is true in working with any new artist, it was a very arduous undertaking, but we’re happy to be part of it all. We’re even happier that their phenomenal debut garnered some great praise. Listen to the album version of Water Liars’ “Dog Eaten” via NPR Song of the Day. Enjoy!
R. Ring were on Daytrotter today. Kelley Deal & Mike Montgomery performed three original songs that are *not* on the forthcoming “Fallout & Fire” b/w “See” 7″ (October 30), so that’s fun. Thanks so much to Sean, Phil & the Daytrotter gang for doing so much for independent music!
Water Liars were featured on Daytrotter today and the session is just incredible. Thanks to Sean Moeller, Phil Pracht, Johnnie Cluney, and Mike Gentry for the love. The WL DT was unrolled just as the band heads out on a whirlwind of dates. Check out the schedule below and head on out to see a show!

Great Praise continues to roll in for Southeast Engine, including a phenomenal piece by Andrew Gilstrap of PopMatters called “Fear and Hope in the Great Depression,” as well as a beautiful acoustic video of “Ruthie” (off SEE’s Canary). The video was filmed live at Pickathon by the kindhearted badasses of KEXP in Seattle and The PopMatters article addresses the themes of both Canary (2011) and its companion EP Canaanville (2012).
In addition, the band had some wonderful new photos taken by the wildly talented Alison Vagnini while they were touring through Denver, CO on their way to Pickathon 2012. The first is up there for all to see.
We are thrilled to announce that Southeast Engine’s Canaanville EP is officially out today. Canaanville is a 4-song appendix EP to 2011′s critically-acclaimed Canary. It is designed to accompany that album, but is *not* a set of B-sides or outtakes. Please support and purchase the album here.
