Holopaw’s brilliant video for “Dirty Boots (He Don’t)” premiered via VICE Magazine. We will be revisiting the Sleeping States / Holopaw split EP this June during LGBT Pride Month.

VIA VICE:

“The name Holopaw might not ring a bell for you if you’re a troglodyte with no taste. To fill your dumb ass in, the Gainesville, Florida–based band is fronted by queer indie rock veteran John Orth, who performed alongside Issac Brock of Modest Mouse in his weird-as-fuck side project, Ugly Casanova. Over the years, Holopaw has put out a bunch of dope releases. But their latest album, Academy Songs: Vol. 1, is especially weird and off-kilter and awesome.

For the video for the single “Dirty Boots,” the band teamed up with Brooklyn-based filmmaker Adam Baran to make a beautifully shot short. The video features narration by legendary and semi-reclusive 70s gay porn star Peter Berlin (Nights in Black LeatherThat Boy), and it stars Dominic J. Fournier, the man behind the many penis and butthole pictures on the ABeardedBoy Tumblr page. According to the press release, “the film celebrates the ever-evolving queer landscape of NYC, the historically iconic erotic archetype of the leather/biker gang, and the characters portrayed in the songs on Holopaw’s album.” For us, this video is the perfect excuse we need to 86 that creepy fluffer we hire for boner-focused fashion shoots, like this one. Who needs a gimp with no gag reflex when this video’s got enough crotch and butt shots to raise a homo chubby like a Caterpillar hammerhead construction crane?”

Holopaw’s John Orth Opens Art Gallery in Gainesville, FL

Holopaw frontman John Orth is a wildly talented and productive man. In past days he pulled double-duty playing alongside Modest Mouse’s Isaace Brock as Ugly Casanova. These days the binary heads toward visual art (see image above).

Orth has partnered with Cinders Gallery in Willamsburg to open F.L.A.Gallery in Gainesville. The inaugural show, Rewilding, F.L.A., features John’s work and that of Kelie Bowman and Serra Victoria Bothwell Fels. Like them on Facebook. Check out John’s tumblr site.
