Holopaw teamed up with Ape School (former Paw member Michael Johnson) for a remix of the celebrated song “Dirty Boots (He Don’t).” VICE premiered the (viral) video for “Dirty Boots” earlier this year and have followed-up by premiering the Apeschooled remix of the same track.
“Misra Records has a history of dropping hot new shit to celebrate Pride Month. Exactly one year ago, the label released a split pink vinyl with indie rockers Holopaw and Sleeping States. This time around, in the spirit of rainbow flags, tiny speedos, strap-ons, and everything else that is holy, they’re dropping a remix of Holopaw’s ‘Dirty Boots (He Don’t)’ by Michael Johnson (Ape School and former Holopaw member). You remember “Dirty Boots (He Don’t)”? We premiered the music video right here on VICE.com. That video was so hot, even the straight dudes in the office were popping biker-induced boners. Michael’s remix of the original track, however, ups the ante with a smooth elixir of the drum machine and funky bass that gets the blood pumping to all the right places. Whether you’re gay, straight, bisexual, or even if you just love yourself (I see you, asexuals!) give the remix a listen and wave that sexually ambiguous flag proudly.”
Holopaw’s brilliant video for “Dirty Boots (He Don’t)” premiered via VICE Magazine last week. Since then, it has wowed the masses, going so far as to garner over 25,000 views in just *one* day. It was recently picked up by the following:
We will be revisiting the Sleeping States / Holopaw split EP this June during LGBT Pride Month. Have a listen to tracks via both SS and Paw via SPIN.

“The name Holopaw might not ring a bell for you if you’re a troglodyte with no taste. To fill your dumb ass in, the Gainesville, Florida–based band is fronted by queer indie rock veteran John Orth, who performed alongside Issac Brock of Modest Mouse in his weird-as-fuck side project, Ugly Casanova. Over the years, Holopaw has put out a bunch of dope releases. But their latest album, Academy Songs: Vol. 1, is especially weird and off-kilter and awesome.
For the video for the single “Dirty Boots,” the band teamed up with Brooklyn-based filmmaker Adam Baran to make a beautifully shot short. The video features narration by legendary and semi-reclusive 70s gay porn star Peter Berlin (Nights in Black Leather, That Boy), and it stars Dominic J. Fournier, the man behind the many penis and butthole pictures on the ABeardedBoy Tumblr page. According to the press release, “the film celebrates the ever-evolving queer landscape of NYC, the historically iconic erotic archetype of the leather/biker gang, and the characters portrayed in the songs on Holopaw’s album.” For us, this video is the perfect excuse we need to 86 that creepy fluffer we hire for boner-focused fashion shoots, like this one. Who needs a gimp with no gag reflex when this video’s got enough crotch and butt shots to raise a homo chubby like a Caterpillar hammerhead construction crane?”
