2012 | Dayton, OH | Releases By Shearwater, Bears, Water Liars
Happy 2012 to all! Misra Records is thrilled to enter its 13th year as an independent record label. With the music industry’s difficult landscape, many labels have been forced to fold. We feel fortunate for the opportunity to continue releasing music in which we believe.
–
In recent news, Misra will be stationed in Dayton, OH for the foreseeable future. Misra manager Leo DeLuca grew up in the Gem City — bands like Brainiac, Guided By Voices, The Breeders, Swearing at Motorists, Mink, & more lit the fire in his belly for independent music. He felt compelled to return — to be near family and give back to the city which gave so much to him.
–
In light of its size and underdog nature, the creative output of Dayton is simply unparalleled. In addition to the aforementioned artists, Dayton also bred funk & soul musicians such as Zapp, Ohio Players, Lakeside, etc; writers such as Paul Laurence Dunbar, Erma Bombeck, etc; and inventions such as the airplane, cash register, starter motor, pop tab, step ladder, etc.

Dayton, Ohio’s creative spirit is undeniable. Misra is so excited to be part of it all. Here is what we have coming up:
–
Shearwater - Winged Life — Vinyl Reissue (2/14)
Bears - Greater Lakes (2/14)
Water Liars – Phantom Limb (2/28)
