Crooks on Tape

A reunion of Enon noisemakers John Schmersal and Rick Lee (also of Skeleton Key and Butter 08) with Joey Galvan on drums, Los Angeles' Crooks on Tape began in 2010, when the trio began recording their improvised sessions. At the time, the incarnation of Enon featuring Toko Yasuda was on its last legs (the group officially disbanded in 2011) and Schmersal was also playing with Caribou and Girls Against Boys. Working with a host of synths and samplers as well as guitar and drums, the band's intense yet mischievous sound evoked Enon's earliest days as well as its members' other projects. The group continued recording into 2012, and sent tracks to Misra Records, which released their debut album, Fingerprint, in October 2013.

Crooks on Tape was still active as of late 2018 but no additional records have materialized.
