Wooden Wand

Wooden Wand is the stage name of singer-songwriter James Jackson Toth. Though he was perceived to be a significant player in the “New Weird America” trend of the early to mid-2000s, Toth has been difficult to pigeonhole in one genre - recent releases have been identified as acid folk, free jazz, outlaw country, and country-tinged rock. In 2008, Toth formed a band with Timothy Bracy and Elizabeth Nelson-Bracy of The Paranoid Style called The Jescos. The album remains unreleased, though two songs made it onto the band’s only release, a 2009 7" single on People In A Position to Know. This is a home demo of one of my songs from the album. In 2011, Wooden Wand released the album Briarwood in association with Misra Records.

Toth remains active up to the present day.
